A system administrator is a person who is responsible for setting and maintaining the system or server, and reliable operation of computer systems especially multi-user computers. Sysadmins are usually charged with installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems. The system administrator seeks to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers.
The system administrator is responsible for the following things:
1. Maintaining system:
Every employee’s systems details are stored in a Google sheet for CPU, Monitor, keyboard, mouse serial number, and Service tag. Thus providing the required hardware to all the employees. Admin has to check the server status also.
2. Monitor system performance:
We use the Zabbix monitoring tool to monitor every employee’s system and hosting servers if any issue in a system or server we can solve those system problems.
3. Software Installation
Employees use different types of Softwares depending on their department.
We keep backup software in the shared folder in our system. So that it can be easily accessible in any employee system.
4. Backup and recovery policy
We have a file backup storage and database backup options in our company, any backup files are stored in the team vice a particular server. So every employee can store files that server.
5. Monitor network communication
We have a checklist to check every IT-related process like database backup, internet connectivity, firewall status, camera status, etc…
Implementing the policies for the use of the computer system and network. We have configured the user awareness in our firewall so every employee uses the internet connection properly. Every employee system has a password protected.
